Kristoff Ligero Maduro Lancero

When I took the cellophane off of this cigar I knew I was in for a treat. The aroma of the wrapper smells like molasses. The wrapper is a bit rustic and the foot is uncut. The cigar has a perfect cold draw with more of the sweetness of the wrapper aroma. Tonight’s beverage is a Lagunitas Cappuccino Stout.

As one might expect, the words Ligero and Maduro are a clue that this is definitely a full bodied smoke. The definitive maduro flavor along with hints of caramel and rum. Medium white pepper notes in the retrohale. The burn is even and the ash is medium grey and not flaky but not solid looking.

The ale is a great pairing. The flavor begins more of an espresso than a cappuccino however, lacking the creamy notes which emerged later. An excellent brew.

The first third is a beautiful interweaving of complexity, with some cedar joining the caramel and rum notes. As predicted, the ash fell at one-half inch. The burn continues to be even.

During the second third the ash firmed up a bit and looks much more solid. The burn ran for a bit but evened itself without correcting. The flavors remain complex with the cedar, caramel and rum rolling in my mouth like a well crafted cocktail.

Approaching the final inch the flavors continue to blend perfectly. I thought the rum might fade, but not at all. Exquisite complexity and excellent construction easily earn this cigar 9.5/10. Joe Bob says check it out.
