Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust Umbagog Robusto

Here's an interesting cigar. Created as a bundle cigar by Steve Saka, and downplayed by Saka yet loved by the folks lucky enough to get them.

A rich dark brown wrapper that is a bit veiny but smells great with a background aroma of black tea and stronger aromas of tobacco and cocoa from the foot. Medium to firm bunch. A nice clean clip and perfect cold draw with some cocoa notes present.

Initial draws are smooth with a ton of smoke. There is a light bitterness on the lips from the wrapper. The smoke has cedar notes with a very slight pepper presence on the retrohale.

The ash is a firm light to medium grey with an even burn. The cigar is paired with a Samuel Smith's Organic Chocolate Stout, which is matching quite nicely. The coal is burning mostly flat.

About 1/3 in the cigar continues to smoke well with lots of smoke. The pepper notes have strengthened somewhat while the tobacco notes are more up front. There are also some light coffee notes emerging.

The burn requires a light touch up at halfway, but nothing drastic. The smoke falls in the medium to full category with mostly medium body. The draw remains perfect.

Closing in on 2/3 the ring slid off with no wrapper damage. The smoke remains cool and pleasant. The burn is back to even after the one touch up.

The flavors are staying consistent with some variation in the coffee and pepper notes. The early bitterness is completely gone. The pepper notes did pick up some approaching the end while a bit of nuttiness emerged. Put down at one inch because of hot fingers.

So, what's the final verdict? Is it as good as a Sobramesa or a Mi Queirda? Frankly no, but it's a very solid cigar that is as good or better than some boxed maduros available. 8.5/10, Joe Bob says check it out.
