Rangers beat the Islanders

FIVE to Nothing (zero, nada, zilch)

Not like it's a big game for NY hockey fans

Yup - at least the Rangers played it that way. The Isles kinda slept-walked. Injury report...Osgood out 3-4 weeks after being hit by a sliding (and he was checked) Holik, Cairns out 4-6 weeks with separated shoulder (rammed into the boards again clean) by Mikael Samuelson and for the Rangers, Dvorak out with a mild-concussion -expected back maybe Sunday. There were a couple of skirmishes before the game during warm-ups as Barnaby and Cairns were jousting at each other 'cause someone was "on or over the red line" during warm-ups. Both teams were fined $25K each for the pre-game nonsense. But mostly it was just a hard-fought hockey game with a better effort from the Broadway Blues. Rangers/Islander games are usually this way with almost 1/2 the fans rooting for the Rangers when they play in the Coliseum. Fans can get nasty and the game is usually very intense.. The Isles are in the Garden on March 17th.. should be a quiet nite (St. Patricks day)

btw - someone tool out a full-page ad today in the local Long Island paper (Newsday) chastising the Islanders for "failing to show up' against the Rangers and not giving a full effort. Some think it was some disgruntled fans, some think it was the "upper management" but the players and coaching staff are very upset from early reports....
