A truly great man. His record as a player, coach, and administrator was amazing. Ernie greeted everyone with a smile and a handshake. He knew no strangers. First year basketball coach Jerome Tang related how Ernie welcomed him to campus a year ago and visited with him before every game this season. He was easy to spot at every major K-State event, the tall man with a big smile wearing a purple blazer. If you had ever met him, he remembered you. Legendary is a barely adequate description for him.
