Daily coffee thread

Panama Elida Natural, roasted 2 days ago to FC+, drip, Silk. I roasted this batch a little faster and a little darker, I'm getting some rum, some citrusy fruit, very nice cup.
I have decided to change my coffee roasting habits. Instead of roasting everything about the same and cupping with different rest times. I am gonna roast the same coffee, using different profiles and see if I can peg the profile I like best.
I have a FR500 and pretty much roast 2 mins on low, to dry the coffee, then 3 mins on med, bringing the coffee thru 1st crack, then high till it just starts second crack. With this batch it was 2 mins low, then right to high till 2nd crack got going.

Bobby...what do you think of FR500? My IRoast 2 is about on its last legs.

Steve, I swear by it, but it is small, one pot at a time, so you are roasting a lot. Being semi-retired, it's not a problem for me. Also, I have the 1 pound gas roaster when I want larger batches, like for cold press or gifts.

I just received word that the Brazilian and Colombian beans have arrived at my cousin's house. He'll bring them to me tomorrow.

enjoy mikey. depending on the actual specifics you will get some good coffee with flavors that may be more alike than different. try comparing the sumatrra to these. columbian and brazilian get a bad rap sometimes because they produce so much, but the good stuff is very good.

All have arrived. I have tasted the Brazilian, Colombian and the French roast. I can't wait to taste the Kona and Sumatra.

When I was too lazy to make a full pot of coffee, I would put a sauce pot with water on the stove and then put in a scoop of coffee. Let it boil, then poured the coffee through a strainer into a cup and drink.
