It's time I start using my pipes
I have been meaning to start smoking pipes for years. I bought my first pipe about 10 hears ago. When I did, the good people in this group bombed me with pipe tobacco samples. At least 90% of that tobacco is still stored in two large mason jars I bought way back when.
I now have three pipes, a pipe stand, and some other pipe accessories. But when it comes time to smoke I always reach for a cigar. I think I just prefer the way a cigar smokes. But I think the biggest reason is that I'm just too lazy to deal with a pipe. Smoking a cigar is simple. A pipe is more difficult. You have pack it, light it, and smoke it just right. And when that bowl is finished you need to repack it and start all over. I know that after a while it all becomes second nature, but I'm not at that point yet. I've decided that I need start smoking my pipes. So I'm taking the initiative. I generally smoke a cigar 4 days a week - Thursday through Sunday. Well, from now on I'm going to make Thursday "Pipe Night." I either smoke a pipe or I don't smoke at all. I'm hoping this will giver me the motivation to start using and smoking my pipes. Wish me luck.

Once you find that pipe tobacco that rocks your smoking world, you will grab that pipe more often. For me that tobacco was Samual Gawith Best Brown Flake. Before trying this pipe tobacco, I thought all pipe tobacco was some sort of shag or loose cut, and usually light in flavor. So pipe tobacco was not exciting for me because it lacked flavor when compared to cigars. Local Tobacconist thought I should try a flake cut tobacco. I had no idea pipe tobacco came in different forms other then shag or loose cut. I tried it, and thought wow, great tobacco. Then I tried Full Virginia Flake, Navy Flake, other flakes from other brands, then tried Plug, and ropes. Now I’m hooked on the stronger blends.

Well, I have dozens of different pipe tobaccos to choose from. Maybe I'll find that one that "rocks my smoking world."

The aroma of pipe tobacco is as seductive as opening new box of Cuban Bolivars. I love a blend with Latakia.
