samuel smith imperial stout.

I got a 4 pack of that here recently, and it was a damned good stout. (in my experience) how does it hold up against other imperials?

I felt that this was rather mild, probably, as the hops were less than overwhelming, but the stout itself was a tasty and thick brew.

I just picked up a four pack of the Imperial White. While I hate whoever came up with the idea of a 4-pack, I'm pretty damn excited to try this 10.4% alcohol beer.

It is a good Imperial, the best I've had was on draft, Goose Island in Chicago. Csak conditioned and awesome in every way.

I think it was Schlaffley of St Louis that released a limited run of imperial stout in wine bottles that is bourbon barrel aged. I wish I could get up the nerve to spend the $9. It sounds as if it could be good, a little vanilla, sweetness, bourbon, charcoal, all added to a good, heavy stout. heavy hops would just ruin it, though, IMO. it would just bury everything they were trying to do.

when done right those beers done in bourbon barrels are very tasty, kind of a desert beer.
