I was gifted a half pound of Gevalia Kaffe a few days ago. Since I haven't had time in the past couple of days to roast a batch of my own beans I thought I would give it a try. First off, I've heard from a couple of different sources that this coffee is damn good. One word comes to mind...Wrong!! Upon opening the bag there was a slight aroma but only for about two seconds and then nadda. They call this roast the "Traditional Roast" in which the beans look about like milk chocolate. After grinding there was still not much aroma to speak of. I always look forward to that burst of aroma just after the grind and I was truly disappointed. So I fire up the coffee machine, pour a cup and give it a try. Boooo!!! This is the most flavorless and bland cup o' joe that I've had in a long time. There is virtually zero flavor profile for me to speak of. I would even go so far as to say that I’ve had a better cup from Starbucks. This was a mistake only to be made once. Brothers of the bean heed my warning and stay away.
