Another wave of Punk would be refreshing compared to what's currently being played on MTV and big radio. If it's not another Rapper & Rapperette duo it's one of the other MTV staples; the whiny, sensitive pop-rockers, or even worse, another boy-band. How does Punk's latest wave hold upagaist the old stuff? It seems that since MTV made millionaires out of Green Day and The Offspring, that most of what passes as punk thesedays is aimed at the masses. From the little I've heard of the new stuff, much of it sounds similar.(?) The old, American made Punk was so diverse. You had the loud and fast shit, like Bad Brains, Black Flag, Minor Threat, or the D.K.'s. Or the more Rock & Roll type Punk (X, Bad Religion, etc.) Or even Funk/Jazz influences (Minutemen), Horror (Misfits), and Comedy (Dead Milkmen). Some great stuff came out during that period from about '80 to '85. Which of the newer bands would you reccommend?
