It seemed like a good enough occassion, and after 9/11 I have a new attitiude about carpa diem. It was nice, had a nice apricot undertone, smooth, not too sweet. Not the best I have had, in fact, I would probably give it a 6 out of 10. It will be fun to finish it off over the next several days and see how it develops.

What do you normally like to drink? I'm just getting into ports. I've had a Ruby and a 20yr Sandemanns' Tawny... what should I try next ?

Thanks to the generosity of SWL, I had the oportunity to try a fine vintage port and a fine 20 year Tawny at the same time. I'd go with the Tawny any day, and I think eveyone else there agreed!

Hard to pass up a good tawny and the price is usually right as compared to vintage ports.

Trblmkr,
If you're looking for something of good quality at a decent price you might want to try some of the LBV's (Late Bottled Vintage) I've always preferred Dow's ('94 specifically)...but it's hard to go wrong with any of them. Try a few so you can get a feel for what each house brings to the table. At roughly $20 per bottle (In MI anyway) you can afford to experiment! Hope this helps Cheers, Shawn
