A question for the humidor experts
I have been toying with the idea of building a humidor from aluminum. It would of course be lined with cedar, and use an alloy that is not prone to corrosion. I know that humidors from the 1930's (?) were lined with silver, tin, and copper, but I don't recall ever hearing anything about negative effects of the metal. My idea is to use a thick (0.5"-1") lining so its not like the cigars would be directly exposed to any metal.
I haven't decided on a final design yet, but I'm probably going to go with something that resembles the commemorative/special release humidors (1492, 1994, etc.) or a huge slide lid cab, made from half inch thick aluminum plate, complete with finger jointed corners and a sliding lid! |
