Steve Saka

I had the chance to sit down and talk to SS last night. He is friends with the owners of my local B&M and he was there to bring in the new year. We talked about how he got into the cigar business. It all started in 1995 with his cigar blog as he puts it, "that was before blogs were a thing". We talked about his cigars and how he comes up with what he is looking for when he blends a cigar. His leaving Drew Estates was interesting. He was a major shareholder within the company. When he was ready to leave they wanted him to sign away his right to the cigars he developed for them. Of course he said no. That lead to a legal battle. In the end DS bought him out. This time spent with SS made my night very enjoyable.

He's a really nice guy with good business sense. Plus, he blends a helluva good cigar.

I really enjoyed the time I got to spend with him at the last CW Camp Herf during RTDRA in 2005. Two weeks later, the Camp was gone. Steve was very generous to the relief fund by donating cigars for an auction.

When K miscarried our first baby, he sent me a package of cigars that included Opus blends never released to the market.

I have nothing but good things to say about the guy.

That's when I met him, J. I don't remember if I asked you or Phil "what does he look like" and the response was "Rob Reiner"!
