Convince me to try JR Alts again.....
A couple years after I started smoking and had a money crunch I smoked the Ashton JR alternatives for a bit. I tried a few more that I can't remember. One thing I do remember is the flavors were different (to be expected) but there was like an oily/burning sensation in my throat when I smoked them. Even from the supposedly mild Alt's like the Ashtons.
Anyway, After hitting on some staples for cheap (Saint Louis Rey Special reserve Rothchilds which I have smoked probably over a thousand of), various stuff on sale from cigarmonster for 3 bucks a stick (CAO brazilias, Perdomo Cuban Parejo, etc), I'm in the market for an everyday smoke that is damn cheap and damn good. Smoking 3-4 dollar cigars everyday adds up and what can I say, I like a good deal. I used to love the maduro Placencia Honduran benchmades from JR with a little time in the humidor and they were not much over a buck a stick. I ordered the equivalent from Famous and am waiting for them to come in so the verdict is still out. In searching the forums I came across the Little Havana Overruns from Holts which I have to say look pretty tempting. I just have to make room in the humidor and get puffing.
I still hear good things about the JR alts, especially the Cohiba ones. It's kind of like that chick from high school that showed you a nice time back in the day, wondering what happened to her. So is it worth it to give them a shot again or is the chick gonna be fat now and have an annoying laugh that I have forgotten about? Should I just stick to these other options above for my cheap cigar fix?
