1999 Esperanza Para Los Ninos

Pre-Smoke Comments:

A 5x50 robusto with a dark brown, medium texture, veiny wrapper and a very hard feel the entire length.

A very good pre-smoke draw though.

Overall, appearance and construction I would give a 3 out of 5.

Burn and Draw:
Burn was quite even, with a flat coal, and very solid light grey ash.

Draw was easy, and aroma very faint.

Flavor and Taste:
Flavor was a medium richness, one-dimensional balance, and medium strength, body and flavor, which was earthy and woody, but not really as separate flavors but rather combined into one, hard to describe taste. No sweetness, bitterness or saltiness, but a light sharpness and burn on the tongue. Also no real aftertaste and without the musty flavor I typically taste in cigars over about 10 years age.

Overall flavor and taste I would give a 7 out of 10 on each.

Overall Summary:
A pretty good smoke, which I would give a 34 out of 50

Those were pretty good smokes. Probably went through 4-5 boxes.

Nice.

Even after 22 years it was still one of the better really aged smokes I have had. Had quite a bit of flavor left in it, and none of my common dry, peeling, brittle wrappers.

I certainly enjoyed smoking it while filling out the review form as I went to have everything noted 8n real-time instead of going off of memory after the fact.

I think it made for a pretty decent review since I haven't done a formal, full length one in over 10 years and didn't do very many back then.

Thanks to @ElkTwin for the 11 very well aged Cigars he sent me to review, and for converting the .Pdf review from to Word for me, and for his story behind every Cigar that he posts after I review.

Its a fun, neat experience and hopefully my reviews improve as I do more of them.

I think that you're doing a great job.
Lots of cigar reviews that I read online are filled with information that seems almost fantastical or just too far "out there". I appreciate cut and dry reviews.

Cool, thanks

Yeah, I agree with what you are saying about most online reviews. The multitude of things they claim to taste just baffles me.
