Q: best "smoke eater" for my home office?

I built an office when I finished my basement last year and I planned on turning it into a cigar room / office but I cannot find a good smoke eater system.

My wife has a freakish sense of smell so I need something that will move a good amount of air, get the smoke out of the house and filter what's left.

However, I don't have a clue where to look. I don't want to spend a fortune but I don't want to buy something that's going to wear out in 6 months either.....

Anyone have any good advice?

I don't know how much you want to spend, but you might want to check out www.aircleanerwholesale.com - that's where I got the cleaner for my shop. They have ducted and ductless systems and their prices are very good for the quality of the equipment they have.

I have this one in my basement.
http://www.cleanairtechnologyllc.com/ca250_plus.htm

It handles the 900 square feet with no problems. It retails for about $600 and is easy to move around. It has a 10 year warranty on the unit and a 6 year warranty on the filter, that in itself will pay for itself in under 5 years versus my old unit that I had to replace the filter every year at $80 each time.

I smoke daily in the house in a spare bedroom I use as an office. I use this 24/7 and even my wife cannot even tell I smoke here.

That looks interesting.
You don't replace filters?
Are they easy to clean?
Do you have to replace the charcoal thing?
The site doesn't give much information and doesn't say how to buy one.

It eventually wears out, but is designed to last 6 years at 24x7 use. It has about 6 pounds of activated charcoal inside, versus my old one had like 2 ounces. The only cleaning you have to do is vacuum the dust off of the outside once in awhile. They sell replacement filters for about $100. We started carrying these at the shop I work in and they have done really well, so if you are interested, PM me for any additional info you might want.

Thanks for the tip here!

I just placed an order. I've been looking for something like this for years. I've always thought filters were disgusting and pretty much useless after a short period of time.
