Cigar Oasis Plus burned out? - Vicksburg too big for regular

My cigar oasis plus died on me for some reason. The cloth (the material which soaks up the water from the reservoir and takes it near the fan), has some brown on it, and the machine smells funny. I believe an electronic part burned out, but I can not be sure. Any ideas?

Anyways I got an old CO regular in my vicksburg now, and I'm just curious if it can handle the thing?

Oh, I had a Vicksburg prior to my Antietam. It too had a regular CO and I never had any problems. Actually, your CO plus might have be too large for it. The CO plus is geared towards small cabinets.

Good luck, co-hiba

The Cigar Oasis Plus had a problem in that if you filled up the water tank and moved the unit, the water had a chance to slosh up into the circuits and short the unit out. The folks at Cigar Oasis addressed this problem by putting green florist foam in the cartrige to absorb the water. So now the two units are very similar. Only major difference is the increased air flow of the Cigar Oasis Plus.

Of course this now means that users of both have to buy the refill cartridges, which means additional cost. The CO web site says the cartridge is only good for 2 refills with distilled water. For someone like me, with an Aristocrat mini, I'd have to get several refill cartridges, @ $15 a pop, each year. No way is it worth the extra cost. I'd either go with Bob's Set & Forget, or I'd use beads. Fortunately, I got in on Dave's group buy and got the original CO+, which only requires distilled water, for a great price. Thanks again, Dave.
