Diesel Unholy Coctail

One of my fellow travelers in Nicaragua (from the Netherlands) told me that this is the best cigar in the world. Let’s find out.

This cigar has a very dark wrapper and a nice firm bunch. The foot has aromas of tobacco and coffee. The cold draw is perfect. Tonight’s beverage is a New Belgium Voodoo Ranger IPA.

The cigar starts out very full bodied. There are notes of strong tobacco and an undertone of strong coffee initially. This is definitely a full bodied cigar. The ash is solid and light grey and the burn is very even.

In the first third the cigar starts to burn uneven; I will give it time to even out. The retrohale is very smooth with very little pepper. The predominant notes of the flavor profile remain tobacco and coffee.

During the second third cedar notes join the flavor profile. The cigar is burning very smooth and the ash remains solid.

Approaching the final inch the complexity of flavors remains excellent. The burn corrected itself as well. The construction of the cigar is top notch. The retrohale remains smooth. There is not much to detract from this cigar. 9.5/10, Joe Bob says check it out.

Many dismiss the Diesel line in general, for some reason. I find they are reasonably priced quality cigars. They are certainly in the Med to Full arena, as a rule. I believe that they deliver above average construction, quality, flavor and value. Yes, some are quite potent, but there's enough variety in the line to meet most needs or desires. Give them a shot if you haven't tried them and perhaps another chance if you had one years ago.

Great review Jeff!

Cheers!

I think I've got one in one of the humidors. If I do it's on tap for tonight.

The original Diesel cigars tasted like they had been soaked in used motor oil. I had some back around 2000. Didn't care for them.
BigO sent me one of the newer ones with a blue band on the foot. Toro size I think. I thought it was pretty good!

I never even thought about smoking something called "Diesel."

Smoked a few. They're just OK. one dimensional, not complex at all. A few had burn issues

Big W,

Let them rest a bit. They should open up a bit, flavor wise, over time. They can be very direct when young. Good Luck!

Cheers!
