New Wineador? Update 4/14
I guess that's what you call it. I found a great little wine cooler to convert to a humidor at Lowe's yesterday. It's a Fridgedaire 8-bottle thermo-electric cooler. It can be placed on a countertop or on the floor.
I will use it at the lakehouse. This way, when I am not there, I don't have to worry about my cigars getting too humid or hot. It is approximately 10"W, by 20"D, by 18"H. It's black with a tinted door and the digital controls are on the door. It has a light inside and comes with 4 removeable racks. I will remove the racks and make either racks out of the Spanish cedar I have or just put cigar boxes in it. I will put a soapdish of beads in it for the humidification along with a hygrometer/thermometer. It retails for $100.00 and with my military discount it came to $89.00! I think this is a good deal and a great way to control the environment for your cigars. Update- Well, so far this is a bust. The temperature control, which I can set to 66 degrees, does not get up to 66. It registers 57 degrees at it's warmest. That's just too cold for my cigars. I checked it with a good thermometer inside it for a couple of days, and it checks out at 57 degrees also. I guess I'll just return it and get my money back.

Sounds like a deal. The wineador will keep the temperature stable while the beads do the same for the RH.

At least you figured it out now, rather than later.

Why would the tempreature bother you? As long as you keep the humidity level at acceptable level, in my opinion, keeping the cigars cool will not a problem. They are not freezing, just cold..I know some tobacco stores in England keep the cigars at 60 degrees and 62 % humididty for aging.

I think Conrad's concern is temperature stability at his lake house when he isn't there. The temperatures could really spike during the summer and get cold during the winter. The wineador is an inexpensive way to keep both the RH and the temperature stable without having to heat or cool the whole house when they aren't there.

In his edited post, he stated that the wine cooler can only go up to 57 degrees and that is too "cold" for his cigars.. If he keeps his cigars in the wine cooler at 57 degrees, temperature fluctuations from changing seasons will not matter. The wine cooler is a controlled environment. My point is 57 degrees will NOT hurt the cigars
