After something like 18 months of faithful service, during which time I tried at least twice to kill it, my original Original Poppery finally gave up the ghost last night.

Along with advice and prompting from people like grtrx, ferdelance, Oedipus1, Curmudgeon, and others here in this room, that machine started me on the path to True Coffee Enlightenment. I will miss it.

It's replacement, a pristine Original Poppery picked up on eBay for $12 (that was the Buy It Now price from someone who didn't know what he had

) just roasted its first batch - Sumatra Mandheling Special Prep - and did a great job. I only hope it works out nearly as well as the one it replaced.
