Impossible to generalize without knowing what version we're dealing with, Darren.
It's simply that, for me, the no-age statement distillery issue cask-strength Bowmore leans more toward the sharply-etched forest vegetation end of the flavour spectrum, and lacks the balance of even the regular 12-year bottling, never mind the older incarnations, all of which benefit from a judicious dose of Sherry-cask aged whiskies in the mix.
