Eating History
I find these historical restaurant menus interesting, especially the prices and menu items.

Very cool.
I like looking at 2020 menus and remembering what pricing was before Brandon.

Yup.
But it's all government spending. The national debt is inflationary. The printing of money is inflationary. I remember a tv interview Reagan did about all that...

Food prices went wacko around 2007, during the first gasoline price spike. They never came back. The retail end found out that people would still pay the higher prices at the store and at the restaurant. Things haven't been the same since.

That 1863 menu has "breakfast wines" at the bottom, and some world class wines at that. But for breakfast?!
And don't get me started on the menu options, tripe, fish balls, etc

Wine and beer and hard cider were safer to drink that local water.
Before the Civil War, it was normal to have alcohol before and after a meal. We were a nation of heavy drinking until the original Progressive prigs came along.

I grew up eating all these lunch meats. I don’t remember seeing the healthy stuff they push these days. This is what they sold for your sandwiches. Enjoyed all of them.
