Re-humidifying old cigars

A friend just gave me a few cigars from a box he brought back from Cuba in the late 70's early 80's (La Gloria Cubana ring gauge:7/16" length: 7 5/8"). The box has been sitting in his closet undisturbed for 25 odd years. True story!!! Is there any chance of re-hydrating these into smokable condition or are these just going to be something to look at? I don't think I should just throw them into my humidor. Is there someway to bring the humidity up slowly? I realize these are a long term project (a year or more), but can they be saved? Thanks for the advice,

DCS
