Indirect humidity...

I've tried many different ways of storing cigars and I've found what I truely believe to be the best way of controling humidity. Most here will agree that using beads at the humidity level of your preference are an excellent way of controlling humidity. To be honest however, while according to my hydrometer humidity remained more stable then my previous efforts the end result was not what I was expecting. My cigars were still not meeting my expectations, they were still dried out or too moist.

In all the different combinations of storage I've tried there is one way that stands up head and shoulders as the best when it comes to the actual final condition of the cigar. I don't know if it has an actual name but I call this method indirect humidity.

First I put the cigars in a humidor with no humidity control device.

Then I place the humidor inside a humidity controlled environment, in my case a large cooler with 65% beads.

Wait at least a month for the cigars to stabilize and they'll be in just perfect condition.
