I'm sure airline prices are high because this the same weekend as Jazz Fest.

Gulfport,MS also has a sizeable airdrome, although Jon tells me flights there are more than Moisant (MSY) most of the time. Gulfport MS is about 45 minutes from here, more or less the same as New Orleans, but a much better drive.

I'll repeat my commitment to make it one of these years, but I have two granddaughters making their first communion that weekend. Many dioceses have their spring sacramentals right after Easter. Ever consider early May?

Tradition dictated the date to begin with, but in a practical sense, the later into the year you get, the greater the chance it will be hades-hot. The first year I tried June because everybody requested it. It was the most miserable two days I've ever spent and still tried to tell myself I was having a good time.

Can't do earlier, because of Easter, and before that Mardi Gras, everybody busy with that. This is still largely a local thing with only a couple guests making the trek from out of state. Bill and Barb, Abby and Bryan, and Jon are the only regulars that come from out of state. We realize its hard for everyone to fit us in, we just like to put it out there...

We did Fathers' Day, that time. Yeeeeeesh, even in Keith's well-shaded car port, patio, and with oak trees all around to provide lovely shade, it was farking hot.

Part of the date is the fact that I am a Church musician, and am not free for a weekend until at least the Octave of Easter/Divine Mercy Sunday when I can squeeze out an absence for my Saturday Vigil. This is also true since I hosted parts of this event from 2001 until 2009.

Well, I still want to make it one of these years. I guess you'll just have to keep having them until I can.

Pencil me in for attending this year. Everything seems to be falling into place for K and I to be there that weekend.

The thought is really exciting me right now!

Still on my radar, but I know I don't want to drag my feet for too much longer.
