It's a nice loking lighter no doubt but something in me just dosn't feel right about spending a C note on a flame, when I could get a cheaper flame and something to use it on for under the price of it.... just my of course!

What's your idea of "not uber expensive?"

If you can spend spend $100 and like the Dupont look, check out the IM Corona. If you want to spend $20 and like the Dupont look, get a Nibo VIP.

I have a Nibo VIP and it's a good lighter. But don't kid yourself, you can tell it's not a Dupont. It feels like a $20 lighter.

I'm definitely leaning more towards the Nibos now, since they are priced very nicely.

If I do that, I'm gonna have to buy on Ebay or some other online source...BUT my local B&M has Colibri soft-flames.

Now I'm a bit skeptical of Colibri, having had some bad experiences in the past, like many (just how the hell did this company get such a big reputation with such SHITTY torch lighters!? ), so are their soft flame lighters just as unreliable? Anyone use them?

EDIT: If it helps, I like the look of the DuPont and Dunhill flint lighters, but I'm not opposed to other styles.
I have the Nibo knock-off, and it works great. Got it on ebay.

Colibri makes a combo that has both torch/soft flame in one, the first click is the torch, click again for soft flame. It's new for this year though, so I don't know how reliable they'll turn out to be.

The Old Boy is pricey but they've been making them forever and they hardly ever break. In the long run they are probably the cheapest lighter out there considering they'll run for 10 or 20 years.

And you can just toss it before going through airport security.
