Murphy's red.

I'm not a fan of their stout. I had my first Guinness before I was eighteen, and Murphy's just doesn't hold up to the type of really heavy stouts and porters that I prefer. I also don't care so much for the head that seems as heavy as cool whip.

The red beer, though, was good. I found it, and even though it was more than I will usually spend, it just sounded good. It is brewed in the Heineken works in the Netherlands. What it was was a good, smooth, balanced beer with enough bitterness to hold up. Not a strong maltiness, no sweetness, or cloying syrupiness. Just a good dry beer with a clean finish and a definite lack of tartness. No toastiness that I prefer, and not terribly hoppy, like I also like, but it really was good for just a heavy bodied beer.
