The Eastern world...it is explodin'

Violence flarin'
Bullets loadin'
You're old enough to kill
But not for votin'
You don't believe in war
But what's that gun you're totin'
And even the Jordan River has bodies floatin'

Good old Barry Macquire recorded this. He had been the lead singer of the Dovells, they recorded the Bristol Stomp fame.

BtW, someone had mention Neil Sedaka in another thread. He had been in group called the Tokens who recorded "A Lion Sleeps Tonight".

Another big name singer that started out with a group is Glenn Campbell. Who was witha groupcalled the Champs famous for the song "Teguilla".

I vote for fvfanmc being nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!

Ok smarty pants, what band did Jimmy Hart(the former WWF wrestling manager) sing with in the 60's?

And what band did Paul Shafer(Dave Letterman's band leader) sing with in the 60's?

I know the group Jimmy Hart was with, but I can't remember Paul's group.

Hart was an original member of the Gentrys, best known for their hit "Keep On Dancin'."

Don't know about Shaffer. I couldn't find anything. Everything I found said his first pro music gig was in 1972 as the music director of Godspell in Toronto. He's done a couple of solo albums and played on several other artists' albums, including 2 Blues Brothers' albums.

He also co-wrote the disco hit "It's Raining Men".

SsJ, I just saw this. Yes it was the gentrys.

Now, remember the TV Sitcom. "Night Court". There was an African American baliff on the show. What singing group was he in?

Answer: Archie Bell and The Drells of "Tighten Up" fame.
They were from Houston, Texas.
