That IS some lineup!
Mysterblues, the "Funky Meters" is a different version of the original Meters, that was started in '94. (George Porter Jr and Art Neville are the only 2 originals). The "Funky" Meters play some of the early-mid 70's stuff like "Fire On The Bayou", "People Say", and "Jungle Man". Unfortunately, they rarely if ever play any of the great old instrumental tracks, except in a medley. They still sound great, just different, and I'm looking forward to seeing them again when they come to NYC in April. Would've loved to have seen them in San Francisco in 2000 when a group of old Meters fans financed a re-union of the original lineup for 1 night only. They broke out stuff like "Cissy Strut", "Ease Back", "Look A Py Py", etc until they were shut down by a 2am curfew : ( |

Come on down to NOLA for the event guys......I can pretty much guarantee we'll be able to hook up with BigO and TommyBB and possibly JMCQ. We could turn it into the JazzFest Herf!
....it's definitely a pilgrimage for me EVERY year!

Audioslave tonight.
For those of you who care but don't know, Audioslave is made up of Chris Cronell, lead singer from Soundgarden and Tom Morello, Brad Wilk and Tim Commerford all formerly of Rage Against the Machine. Small venue, sold out, moshers paradise as I have mainfloor tickets...of course! can you say pogo
