I used to feel the same way, and I don't know how it happened, but one day it just clicked, and suddenly what used to taste like formaldehyde and the dentist's office because deliciously smoky and wow. I believe it was the Ardbeg 10y.o. where this changeover occurred, just all at once. Once I hated it, then BAM! Delicious. Like my mouth GOT it for the first time. It was very strange!

Maybe keep lovin that Macallen and every once in awhile give that Islay flavor a whirl. Maybe it'll grow on ya.
