If you had time to ask, you've already waited longer than I ever can!

I like to let them rest for a few days at least, but this is after the obligatory sample the day they arrive.

RyJ reserve maduro no. 4
La Escepsion IV Tapa Negra 48
Montague Robusto (very very cheap box of these for motorcycle washing smokes and for moochers that think they are my friends)
Trilogy Exotic Maduro Robustos (tried these the other day and enjoyed them for the price and kinda liked the interesting tri-box shape feel in my hand and mouth)
Toranos Sampler (with a couple of sigs! one of my favs!)
Puros Indios Sampler
Oliva O Orion Torp Maduros (based upon the recent review on the home page)

i am going to have to build another humi this weekend! (and/or smoke a lot!!!) better yet smoke while i build!!!

I usually let 'em rest for a week.....depending on how far they had to travel. Gives them time to stabilize and acclimate to your humidor.

And then sometimes, only a few days before I succumb

I allways give a week. longer if they feel wet on arrival.

I also prefer my maduros around 64% for smoking so it takes at least that long to get em down there.

Your taste may differ so experiment. Find out what works best for you.

Although many others will disagree with me, I like to wait a couple of weeks for the sticks to settle and stabilize from their journey.

With that said, there are a lot of factors that could shorten or extend the time, like

* how wet or dry were they kept before being shipped
* how long did they travel
* what temperatures were outside when they were in transit
* how much did the climate fluctation while in transit (from state to state or country to country)

In my experience, when I smoke a cigar OTT or within a few days of receiving, I am dissapointed 3 out of 4 times. Waiting that "little" bit of time (although I know how hard the temptation is to resist) really helps.

Just my
