Popeye’s Fried Chicken adds beignets to the menu
I love Popeye’s fried chicken. I hope their new beignets are as good as I hope.

Interesting. A once a year treat is probably still too often. Other than a few local places, Popeye's is the best commercial fried chicken available. To me, at least. Do miss their onion rings. Probably 20 years since I last had a batch.

They removed them from the menu about four or five years ago. They had stopped hand-battering them years before that, and the orders were down to about six rings. I miss them, too.

We just got a Popeye's close enough to us to give a try (opened JUST before Covid hit). Man is that good chicken - I now understand what everyone was on about in places that had one. Its still a bit of a drive for us (about 30min round trip) but we do go out of our way to make the stop.

there were only two locations that were still serving them before the storm. The mothership just off of MLK and the one at the end of Harang near T's house. Crazy part is when I was at T's either for a visit or to help board up, I would always stop here and get at least 2 orders. 1 for the trip home and 1 for the rest of the family. K wouldn't touch them, so J and I would happily devour them.

They recently got rid of the green beans as well. Cutting out all the good stuff. They'd better leave the damned mashed potatoes alone.

I go to Popeye's for good food not to eat healthy. I never had their onion rings. Now I'm sad.

Had a birthday recently. The wife asked me what I wanted for a birthday dinner. Since I hadn't had it in years, and I remembered this thread, I said Popeye's Chicken. It didn't disappoint!
