Wild Turkey Rare Breed - Batch 01-99 - 108.4 Proof
This is one of the few spirits that gives you the opportunity to drink barrel strength/proof Bourbon - no water added. You get to taste exactly what the Master Distiller tastes when he samples the final product. Rare Breed is a fairly heavy, medium bodied Bourbon, with the color of light carmel. The initial nose has a slight floral aroma, but hints at the flavors which are about to sweep over the pleasure-buds in your mouth. It's a big bodied Bourbon flavor-wise, with black pepper, almonds, orange, and even mint and tobacco hitting you square on - first sip. There is a slight oily mouth-feel which is in no way unpleasant - it's very rich and elegant like a fine Cognac. Rare Breed finishes long and warm, with hints of nuts and hot peppers. I've tried it straight up, with a splash of water, and with a small ice cube. I recommend straight up. As mentioned, you get the honest taste of barrel strength Bourbon which has been blended into a silky elegance that compliments a fine cigar. My next quest is to find a bottle of Wild Turket Kentucky Spirit. Seems to be non exhistant here in NY.
