Metal Pourer Cap

I have always liked the way the bottles in restaurants and bars have those metal pourer caps. But I wonder whether they are practical for someone like me who is a slow drinker. A bottle of whisky can last me years. Would one of these caps be a bad idea?

They're OK in terms of making it easier to pour from the bottle (and as long as they have a small cap to cover the spout when not in use). Goodness knows, some spirits bottles are notoriously difficult to pour from without the liquor dribbling over the edge of the neck. (Who designs these, anyways?)

My one reservation concerns the sealing material underneath the metal (usually stainless steel) cap and spout. Beware of any rubberized material, as it can dry out and disintegrate over time when constantly exposed to alcohol.

I don't worry too much about medium to long-term storage of spirits until the contents of a bottle are significantly depleted (i.e. past the halfway point). And then, I simply transfer the remainder into a smaller bottle.

Alternatively, one could invest in a nitrogen dispenser to prevent any oxidation occurring.

Are there any you can recommend?

Any decent glass bottle with a good stopper or cap. I usually utilize bottles varying in volume from 200ml to 50ml (miniatures).

I can't, Rob, as I don't use them. I suppose those with durable silicone-based components would suffice. And I'm sure others might be able to make specific recommendations.

I really don't drink enough for the spout to matter. But they seem "cool."
