Nice chardonnay on a budget?
I'm getting really tired of overpriced chardonnays that just don't taste all that great.
When I think of what it should be, I think of butter, oak, and hints of fruit, not to be confused with Arbor Mist. All I've been able to find lately has no oak, little or no butter, and overpowering citrus. Opinions? Thanks.

A chardonnay with no oak?
Pray tell, WHERE?! Any more oak in California chards and they're gonna have to start pricing their bottles by the board foot.

Catena Zapata's Alamos from Mendoza in Argentina isn't a bad bargain option - 5 months in oak gives it just enough wood to supplement the fruit.

Go for the Chileans. $5.50 for a wonderful bottle of Caliterra chard.

Villa Maria make a wonderful New Zeland unoaked chardonnay.
The 04 Buehler Russian River Chard has a very complex bouquet of floral and minerals flavors with a blalenced fruit body. This is one of the most complex chards that can be has for under $13 out of california. You should be able to find these for around $13
