Lighter recommendations?

Hello all,
I have been herfing for a little over a year now and bought a Colibri Quantum lighter when I started. I am having the same problems that seem to be endemic to almost all Colibris: negative ignition. There are few things quite as embarrassing as going to a herf and having to borrow a lighter because yours refuses to cooperate. I can blow out the burner area with compressed air and it fixes the problems for a couple of weeks but the lighter recidivates; sometimes the compressed air trick doesn't seem to work and the lighter acts like a small child: working when IT wants to work.
I would like to buy a lighter (preferably a dual flame) that is dependable and is less than $200. Does anyone have a recommendation for me? Thanks in advance for your time and consideration.

Hello smu and welcome to CW. I have had a shit load of cheap lighters and never had any luck with them. I cant afford a $200 or more lighter so I just use a BIC and it works just fine.

When the Colibri fails, I either have to borrow someone else's lighter or bust out the $0.99 BIC. It's sad that BIC can make a more reliable product than Colibri!

I have a number of lighters of varying quality. None work.
I have an old Blazer knock-off that I bought ten years ago, maybe nine years ago for $3.00.

The entire lighter assembly comes off of the tank. The button broke off last month, and I wasn't able to find it. So now I light it without the little button. My little soft flame cheapo is that lighter at herfs that everyone else borrows.

to CW smu!

Use the CW search feature narrowed to 'lighter' and 'The Cedar Room' (our place for discussion on accessories). I got 510 matches back. You'll find lots of good info there!

I just bought an Xikar lighter and it's been great so far. I got the Executive model for $19.99 at CI. I've had it about two months now and not a problem. I've given up on Colibris. Oh yeah, Welcome to CW.

Cheers! I did a search on all forums for "lighter" and it only came back with 30 or so hits. I will take a look in the Cedar Room.

Thanks to all who gave me advice!
