Shieldaig Highlands
I'm a novice, exploring some Scotches and have tried about 15 so far. Shieldaig Highlands is a very affordable peaty Scotch that has been my favorite so far. Anyone else with an opinion on this one?

Out of the millions of brands, that's one I don't recall ever seeing. I need another bottle of scotch sometime soon.

Laird's applejack
Apple brandy, and "neutral spirits." Stuff was awesome when I first had it. The fragrance of apples was absolutely intoxicating, but the liquor was a bit rough. It was akin to sipping WT 101.
Current stock seems to be too much spirit and too little brandy. weak in aroma, and just weak in character as well. If I ever can find it, maybe I'll try their straight apple brandy. Another teenage infatuation shot down with the passage of too much time. |

The reviews I read of shieldag are all over the place, it is a love it or hate it spirit... it is a pretty well priced single malt

Shieldaig makes a 12, 18 yr and a speyside, all which cost more than the Highlands (approx. 19.00), but the Highlands beats them all for taste. YMHO.

Neighbor bought me a bottle and I likey. 25$ roundabouts here for a bottle, very reasonable for a decent scotch.
