Seems the music scene around here has a case of the "20 year" syndrome. The clothes the bands are wearing, the music on the radio(Iron Maiden on the local rock station?) and various other things. Some I like some i don't.

Young folks (under 20) by-and-large have never heard a band play their instruments, all they know is low-tuned guitars and monotone vocalists. I call it socialist rock...no one stands out in the mix... When they hear Maiden they hear a sound that they have never heard before....

Quick, name a guitarist in a top 40 New Rock band. I can't. Don't know anyone who can, either. My 20 year old nephew is overwhelmed by my CD collection, he finds musical gems in my old stuff that he will readily tell you no new band can even SEE, much less reach.

roughly ten years ago i was in graduate school and the style was to ape the 70s. they had old-school disco nite at local clubs. roughly twenty years ago i was in college and the style was to ape the 60s. that was when tie dyes came back. ten years from now the kids are all gonna try to dress like kurt cobain and be listening to pearl jam. lol

Tom Morello, of Audioslave and formerly Rage Against the Machine. Damned good guitarist too imo.

Their live recordings are awesome!

I've always been told my musical tastes fit someone 15 or 20 years older, Iron Maiden being just one of the reasons.
