Help for a nug...

I am new to smoking cigars, I got bitten about 3 months ago and I haven't been able to stop since. I made the silly mistake of buying a very small cooler to start with and ended up getting a large one a week later. I should have paid attention to the warnings on here, I guess, hehe.

I am having two problems, though. I just got a very expensive cutter for my anniversary and sometimes I get a very bad cut from it. Sometimes it just hacks up the end of my stick. Other times, it is perfect. My second problem is that I just smoked a very tasty Punch Chateau L, but when the ash finally fell off at around 1.5 inches, it had a significant cone to it. This continued throughout the rest of the smoke.

I am wondering if either of these problems is related to humidity. Any help?
