Making a new blend
To show their appriciation for the patronage of my college's cigar club, Uhle's (A local B&M) is going to let us make our own blend. So, sometime soon I'll be meeting with their tobacco blender to come up with the blend we'd like to have. I smoke pipe tobacco but not enough to know what the hell I'm doing. It's probably going to be called the Raider's blend (Our shcool's mascot) and I'd like it to be a non-aromatic. Here's Uhle's current blends:
Blend list Not sure if it'll help or what exactly I'm asking for, but any suggestions will help |

Gee, I'd think Jeff would hold your hand and walk you through it. I'm sure he doesn't want to try and sell something unsmokeable.
Didja ask him for help? As a College blend, I'd think you'd want to leave the Latakia out. Burley and VA. Can you get Beer flavor in a tobacco? Last edited by xrundog; 03-03-2009 at 04:23 AM. |

Actually Jeff is pawning me off on Chris, he helps them make their new blends, who I haven't met yet. They will be helping me along, but I'd figure I'd ask for any suggestions.
I don't know if I want to smoke beer but whiskey might have some nice flavors. |

You'll want something with a clean tobacco flavor with a hint of sweetness and a good room note. The sweetness can come from black cavendish in moderation, but the base components will probably be a mix of burleys and virginias. Possibly a bit of perique or Orientals for some sourness to dance with the sweetness.

Blending tobaccos is an art. I admit to being more interested in the pipe than in the tobacco. I imagine the Blender will be able to get you where you want to go. I'll bet it will be fun for you. You'll learn alot.
