HEY! I'm a damn good bass player!

Just not the best.

Texas Bluesmen Willie Weeks and Tommy Shannon aren't the very best bass players either, but just like me - they don't care!

We might not be the very best, but we always play like we are!

Top that!

Bass playing is all about being your self .
not all of us will be able to play like Jaco or any other great player but we sill can grove even if its just one note!

You have to separate yourself from the VH mystique to appreciate him. Michael is jazz trained and it comes out in some of their more obscure songs. There is a lot of talent there and we only hear a little bit of it normally.

You also have to remember that he's a groove player, not a flashy player like most of those mentioned already. He's one of the most solid players I've ever heard and I've been playing bass for almost 30 years.

I really dig some of the stuff Wooten does. And Mingus was one of the greatest at voicing his thoughts. I have always liked Ray Brown, especially the Superbass albums he put out recently with Christian McBride and John Clayton.

I got to play with Pattitucci when I was in college and that was great. The jazz ensemble got to play with Wayne Shorter, Pattitucci, Danilo Perez on Piano and Brian Blades on Drums. AWESOME!!!

I'm out there every Monday but haven't heard how the camp made out. I know their Semi Trailer Billboard on the way out sustained some damage.
