I respect Coldplay for this
I read an interview in Maxim magazine. They were asked about bringing in Brian Eno (U2) as producer.
They said it was be easy to get caught up and think they were special, but by bringing in Eno, they were admitting they were "shit". At least they aren't arrogrant.

a lot of people bash them for not being the most musically talented and diverse group out there...they never claimed that they were...so I at least like them for that even if I'm not much of a fan

I think one of them walked out of an interview recently for no real reason I could see - sounds like prima donna behavior to me
However I have no idea who they are I just saw that on Yahoo and didn't really see any reason for him to walk out. Could be the greatest person I ever met but judging from that behavior I'd say he has a prima donna attitude or something

Lots of great bands had so-so musicians but the chemistry of the members is more important than the level of talent. You can improve talent, you can't improve chemistry. It's either there or it's not.
I'm not saying Coldplay is a great band, I don't recall listening to their music but it's nice to see someone humble these days.

imo Coldplay are Marillion wannabes.
The 2 cd version of Marbles kills anything Coldplay has made. (particularly Ocean Cloud) |

I am a big fan of Coldplay, they have quite a catalog of killer tunes for only a few album releases. At least in my opinion. They are also very very good live. Only time will tell if they are a great band or not. But for now, I love what I hear from these guys
As far as behavior goes...everyone can have a bad day, so don't be so quick judge somebody based on one incident. |
