Lighter question
I read on another board that many people prefer a "soft flame" lighter to light their cigars rather than using a torch lighter. This may sound like a dumb question, but I'm sorry, but what is a "soft flame" lighter? I'm trying to find an alternative to torch lighters b/c I have trouble with torch lighters during the day, I usually end up charring the foot of the cigar b/c I can't see the flame due to the sunlight. Does this happen to anyone else? Anyway, does a "soft flame" lighter avoid this problem; I mean are you able to see the flame in sunlight?
One more question where can you purchase a good quality "soft flame" lighter? Something under $60. Thanks in advance.

Soft-flame lighter is like a Bic disposable, DuPont, IM Corona or Zippo...soft, yellow flame as opposed to the hard blue jet flame of a torch lighter.

Bright daylight can be an issue and it is easy to scorch the foot of your cigar with a torch if you are not careful - one of the reasons I prefer a soft flame.....

It is difficult to see if there is a flame. You can put your finger over the top of the lighter to see if it is lit.

I can't see my torch flame during the day, but it doesn't seem to bother me. I guess I've lit enough cigars that I know how far to hold the lighter from the foot without having to see the flame.
