watching that, seeing those guys just going to town making those pipes, it seriously dispelled the old fashioned image of an old fart sitting at a desk, patiently laboring with files, fret saw, etc, making one of them. they roughed them out, and had them cut in what couldn't have been more than half an hour. And they hand made the stems!

On the other hand, I watched another video that came up with this one of an english pipe shop. it struck me as incredible that the guy in that one still had his arms. Seriously, he left a lathe with a chuck face plate running, while he reached in and fiddled with another piece of equipment, and HE WAS WEARING LONG SLEEVES!

The way he worked on the lathe without a tool rest made me nuts. No stupid safety measures for him!
