Dave with Climmax there is no downside to having excess media in the coolerdor, as there could be with a large humdifier charged with 50/50.
The beads act as a moisture reservoir and regulate the RH much more consistently than a 50/50 PG mix, which is never 50/50 after the first charging anyhow. Add too large a humidifier that is undercharged with PG to a given size humidor and your RH will be too high. Not so with beads. The more charged Climmax media you put in, the longer you can go between recharging without any risk of the RH climbing too high, provided the beads are not entirely saturated. If you don't have anything else to put that 1/2 lb. of beads in, I would just throw the whole pound in your one cooler. If you get another cooler in future, you can split the media between the two coolers, but you will need to recharge the media in both coolers more often. I have one 50 qt. cooler that has a pound of Climmax in it and it has not been recharged in many months. It gets opened very briefly (quick RH check) about once a week.
