Cigar Inflation

Have you found you are buying fewer cigars now that their prices are going up? I have cut back a little, but I'm still buying too many cigars.

I haven't really the price increas3s on nc's that people keep discussing, likely as my screwed up memory doesn't let me remember the price of something specific from say, a year ago compared to now.

I have cut back on buying Cigars the last couple months to stock up on pipe tobacco and accessories, since I just started pipe smoking. This is why you see all the ultra cheap Churchills I've been posting in the "what did you Smoke today 2023" thread.

Still have about a 450 cigar reserve, so not in dire need of cigars, and surprisingly the super el cheapos have actually tasted pretty darn good.

I've certainly noticed that more cigar companies are putting out premium lines at premium prices, but I haven't noticed a price increase on the everyday lines of NC companies.

I actually am buying more cigars because I'm buying NCs instead of CCs. I've pretty much resigned myself to the fact that I've been priced out of the CC market.

Yeah, while my buying has been unaffected by anything, I smoke only 2 a day now that I smoke a pipe, vs 3 a day before. Only way cost factors in is that pipe tobacco is much cheaper than Cigars, which is how I was able to get a good stockpile quickly.

Pipe tobacco has gone up 30% on average since 2020. Seems to be holding steady now.

Outside of buying some custom rolls from a certain awesome member here, I haven't purchased cigars in a long time, I have way to many already. The only exception is our annual trip to Cabo, I always pick up some singles of Habanos that I like.

Dang, 30% is a decent increase. Shame I missed out on pre-2020 prices. Would have been dirt cheap, as I consider current prices pretty cheap, aside from tins, which Command a little premium like tubos.

I am seeing it, even in the typical bundles I buy. A few are up as much as $10.00 over the last six or eight months. Same for some of the less expensive boxes ($65.00-$100) then and now.

I really haven't. I'm an opportunist when it comes to cigars. Most of what I buy is on auction and i don't get into bidding wars. I'll grab stuff off of sales when they come up. But that being said I used to go to my local buy a couple of cigars and hang out. Their prices are through the roof.
