Saw some CT shade tobacco barns

Was early for a sales appointment at Kaman areospace in bloomfield CT. Across the stree was Cullabro (sp) tobacco co. with a few tobacco barns.
Took a walk around. Smell in the air reminded me of Coppenhagen snuff.

Walked by all the barns saw one with nice peep hole. Saw the tobacco curring upsidedown with a propane heater in the middle of the barn. Truly an interesting sight. Turns out that the guy I had an appointment with used to pick tobacco in his teens and many locals did.

Very cool expirence, never seen inside a tobacco barn before.

sounds like broadleaf. Broadleaf is "stalk cut", instead of picked leaf by leaf in primings. And additional heat is used in curing. Especially in CT this time of year as it is getting chilly.

It could have been Candela. That leaf is fire cured to keep its green color. Culbro does grow some Candela in CT.

Thius could also have been burley or another of the heat cured pipe tobaccos.
