Travel Humidors
Hello folks,
I am going to be doing some travelling in Europe in the spring of 06. Don't worry, Barcelona is the first and the last stop so I will definately be able to bring back some goodies with me (I live in Canada, so ISOMs are not an issue thankfully). My plan is to find a good store when I first get to Barcelona and load up on singles for the rest of my trip. I'll decide what of those I like the most and buy some boxes when I get back to Barcelona at the end, unless I see something better along the way. So, my question for all of you is what kind of travel humidor do you recommend? I've been surfing around and seen a few that look suitable and I am hoping someone has some experience using them. These are what I'm looking at: All hold 10-15 smokes. Pepitone Aluminum Traveler - cost around $35 USD Csonka Cigar Valet - cost around $95 USD Traveldor - cost around $20 USD Any thoughts on these or recommendations for something else please let me know. Thanks. |

When you get to Spain, you'll end up with 4 boxes or so. My suggestion is to bring some foam to keep those suckers kind of packed so that they won't bang into each other causing damage.
The Spanish prices will make you acquire multitudes of boxes. Bring some nice tupperware boxes (lock & lock are my favorites), and some foam for packing. Record the box numbers. Dump the original boxes. Take off all the bands and mail them to yourself. Bring the smokes back in your tupperware unbanded. The finest the Dominican has to offer.

Since he's from Canada, does he really have to do all of that?

I brought some cigars back from Cuba a year or so ago and the customs guy didn't even look at them. They were way more concerned that any wood products we brought back had been varnished and didn't have any bugs. They were also looking at people's fruit. It was a little bizarre as far as priorities go, but who am I to question? Anyway I have been looking at e-bay as per some suggestions from another board and there is a pretty good selection of travel humidors represented there, so I should be able to get something decent for a good price. It doesn't really seem that any of them are all that much different from the rest other than aesthetically. I'm more concerned I get one that isn't too bulky more than anything. I like the look of those humi-tubes rutkus recommended as well. Has anybody tried those on the road? I can't see why they wouldn't be great, but any thoughts on that are appreciated. Thanks for the responses. |
