Ah yes, thats my new Peterson.

Well, I picked up a nice Peterson. I have 2 other pipes I am rotating, and I decided to get a decent Peterson for 80 instead of dropping over 150. I actually really like the P-LIP (sp) unless it is burning hot, then its like a blowtorch to the top of my mouth

I also picked up 2 tins. One of Old Dublin and one of Sweet Killarney.

I love the Old Dublin. To me it has a really interesting smell out of the tin, and smokes alot better (imo) than it smells.

Sweet Killarney is nice, but I couldn't smoke it all the time. I plan on rotating this one in and out here and there.

Overall, I enjoyed smoking this pipe so far.

Here is a question though. My first bowl was a full one, and now I am smoking half ones trying to break in the bottom of the pipe. I can't seem to catch the very bottom of the pipe. Any suggestions?

Don't worry about it too much. The purpose of the break-in is to protect the briar against the heat of burning tobacco. If you're never smoking the bottom to pure ash, then you have nothing to protect against.

Josh ... Glad you like the Old Dublin. It gets even better after it ages for awhile.

As for breaking in the bottom of the bowl - you are already doing the right thing. Smoking 1/2 or even 1/3 bowls should char the bottom portion well enough to get a cake started. Just make sure your tobacco is on the dry side and it should smoke all the way down.

Good luck on the new Pete!

Actually unless your bore is right in the bottom of the bowl you can forget about burning to the bottom. Peetes are good pipes but mopre often than not the hole is located no where near the bottom.
