Tatuaje 7th Capa Especial
MadDawg sent me a handful of Tats to try since I have only had a couple and wasn't impressed by them. I figured this would be a good chance to review them and really take the time to analyze what makes them so popular.
Appearance: Medium to dark brown, slightly oily and veiny. Construction was firm but not hard, no lumps. Pre-light Aroma: This has an aroma of thick vegetation as I would find walking through the woods in the fall, something that reminds me of the color red for some reason. Not a barnyard aroma, but definitely mossy and inviting. Cap: Someone didn't take their time on this but who cares, you're going to cut it off anyway, right? When I did the wrapper stayed intact so I had no complaints. Pre-light Draw: This was perfect. It didn't take too much effort but it was just enough that you knew it was going to be easy to smoke. I lightly toasted the foot to check the aroma of the smoke and it was very mild. I've come to enjoy a spicy smoke in the last few years so I was hoping it wasn't going to be too mild. It wasn't. The first full draw reminded me of dark, buttered toast which is something I crave in my coffee and love when a cigar surprises me with it like this one did. Smoke: I like a cigar that produces a lot of smoke and this one hit the mark dead on. It wasn't strong or biting, but there was plenty of it. Flavor: Again, I really enjoy spice these days and there was just enough in this cigar to make me take notice. The balance between the taste of tobacco and a hint of earthy richness was almost perfect. There was no sweetness, bitterness or sharpness that some cigars have, but the bold flavors were distinctive and welcome. Using the CW rating document I would rate this one distinguished, subtle with mild complexity, generous body and an easy to enjoy cigar without being strong on the nicotine side. Overall I would give this one a solid seven out of ten. Would I buy it? Definitely, as a treat for myself when I want something a little more expensive than I usually indulge in.
