I change my mind Lockwood is in the top 10 not the top 5. Gatemouth plays so many styles and IMHO his vocals sounds strained it makes him hard to listen to. I have seen him and he is an extraordinary talent. If you are expecting Lockwood to 'wail' on the guitar you will be disappointed. I been listening to SBW II this morning and Lockwoods playing in the background is incredible. He doesn't play many solos but he plays some real nice runs, his chording just nails me. He's a jazzy kind of blues player. Gatemouth Swings is a terrible CD. I do get tired of Lockwood doing the tune 'Kind Hearted Woman' on every CD.
If your address is in your profile I can make you a Lockwood CD from various CDs so you can get an idea. I have an Otis Spann (blues piano king)& Lockwoowd CD that is good. Don't leave out Johnny Shines if you like acoustic/delta blues. 'Back To The Country' was his last one and Snooky Pryor plays harp with Johnny Nicholas playing some guitar. Shines didn't play much guitar at this timne due to his stroke but his vocals are real strong. Anyway the CD is definte 10.
